Nothing has unveiled the Ear 3 earbuds with a first-of-its-kind Super Mic in the charging case and an innovative Talk button, but Indian users will have to wait a bit longer.

What Happened?
London-based tech brand Nothing has launched its latest true wireless earbuds, the Nothing Ear 3, featuring a unique combination of hardware and software upgrades. The standout feature is a Talk button on the charging case that activates a Super Mic for improved voice clarity and hands-free recording. While the global release is confirmed for September 25, Indian consumers will have to wait for local launch details.

We announced Nothing OS 4.0 (coming very soon), a $1.3B valuation fundraise, and today we are launching Ear (3) – the next generation of Nothing’s flagship True Wireless Stereo category.

A Case That Talks Back
One of the most eye-catching upgrades on the Ear 3 is the charging case itself. It now includes a dual-microphone system, branded as Super Mic, that can filter out ambient noise up to 95 dB. This system works in tandem with a Talk button positioned on the case, allowing users to take voice calls or record voice notes directly without pulling out their phones.
- Voice notes recorded via the Talk button are saved to Essential Space on Nothing Phones and get auto-transcribed within the OS.
- Users with other Android devices will still be able to save recordings via native voice recording apps, although without the transcription feature.
This opens up new possibilities for quick voice memos, hands-free conversations, and even portable voice journaling, all using the earbud case itself.
Better Sound, Smarter Noise Cancellation
The Nothing Ear 3 continues the brand’s legacy of transparent design, now with a metallic finish. But it’s not just about looks. Under the hood, the earbuds pack:
- 12mm dynamic drivers with a redesigned diaphragm for cleaner treble, richer mids, and boosted bass
- Three directional microphones per earbud
- A bone-conduction Voice Pick-up Unit (VPU) that reads micro-vibrations from the jaw to improve voice recognition
For noisy environments, the Ear 3 brings Real-time Adaptive Noise Cancellation, filtering ambient sound up to 45 dB. This ensures optimal listening based on both fit and environment.
Performance and Battery
In terms of connectivity and endurance, the Ear 3 delivers:
- Bluetooth 5.4 with support for LDAC codec and 120 ms low-latency mode for gamers
- Each earbud has a 55mAh battery offering 10 hours of playback
- With the case, battery life extends up to 38 hours
- Quick charging provides 10 hours of playback in just 10 minutes
- Supports wireless charging, adding to user convenience
India Launch: Still Waiting
Although the global launch is set for September 25 and priced at $179 (around ₹15,800), Nothing has not yet revealed a firm release date or price for the Indian market. Given the company’s previous strong performance in India, the delay is likely strategic rather than a market exclusion.
What TechKV Thinks?
I love seeing a company truly innovate with the form and function of earbuds. The idea of using the case itself as a communication device is bold and feels like a natural next step for wearable tech. The Super Mic and Talk button might sound like small additions, but they could redefine how we interact with earbuds in everyday life. That said, it’s disappointing that Indian users will have to wait, especially considering how supportive the Indian market has been for Nothing. I hope the delay is short and worth the wait.
