Google has launched its most affordable AI subscription plan yet, debuting AI Plus in Indonesia with powerful Gemini tools and 200GB of storage.

    TLDR:

    • Google AI Plus is a new budget-friendly subscription giving users access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Veo 3 Fast, and other creative AI tools.
    • Indonesia is the first country to get the plan, priced at around $4.56/month, much cheaper than the AI Pro and Ultra tiers.
    • Subscribers also get 200GB cloud storage and integration across Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.
    • The launch is seen as a response to ChatGPT Go, OpenAI’s budget AI plan available in India.

    What Happened?

Google has rolled out a brand new AI subscription plan called AI Plus, starting exclusively in Indonesia. This new tier provides mid-level access to advanced Gemini features, filling the gap between Google’s free and premium AI plans. It combines powerful AI tools with productivity features, all at an affordable monthly cost.

Google’s New AI Plus Plan Targets Affordability and Access

Google AI Plus is aimed at making cutting-edge AI more accessible, especially in emerging markets. At just Rp. 75,000 (approximately $4.56) per month, it offers significantly more than the free plan without reaching the higher costs of the AI Pro (Rp. 309,000) or AI Ultra tiers.

    Features Included:

    • Gemini 2.5 Pro for more complex prompts and improved AI responses
    • Veo 3 Fast video generation model for quick, high-quality visuals
    • Whisk and Flow tools for image-to-video transformation and creative generation
    • NotebookLM with better document analysis and faster summaries
    • 128K token context window, which greatly increases the prompt length compared to the 32K in the free version
    • Full integration with Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive through the Gemini side panel

Subscribers also receive 200GB of Google One storage, which can be shared with up to five family members. This makes the plan useful not just for individual creators or students, but also for families looking for shared storage and productivity tools.

    Why Indonesia First?

Indonesia has become the first testbed for the AI Plus plan, signaling Google’s focus on reaching emerging markets. According to Google’s Group Product Manager Vikas Kansal, this rollout is meant to help users in these regions “do more for less.” The strategy seems aimed at democratizing AI usage by reducing costs and increasing functionality.

This comes as a clear response to OpenAI’s recent launch of ChatGPT Go in India, which offers GPT-5 access and enhanced image generation for Rs 399/month. While Google’s AI Plus is currently available only in Indonesia, the company is expected to expand this offering to other markets like India in the near future.

    What TechKV Thinks?

I think this is a brilliant and timely move by Google. The company has realized that not everyone can or wants to spend $20 or more each month on AI tools. With AI Plus, Google is finally offering a real middle ground and it feels worth paying for without being overkill.

The integration across Google Workspace, combined with powerful tools like Gemini 2.5 Pro and Veo 3 Fast, makes this a great value proposition. And with OpenAI turning its focus to emerging markets through ChatGPT Go, Google’s counterplay with AI Plus could spark a new wave of affordable AI innovation in countries like Indonesia and India.
